Shot Of Jack For My Dad's Birthday
My dad passed away about a little over 10 years ago. I always have some Jack for his birthday, which was on Halloween.

I happened to see a link to an old recording of Action News from Philly. It brought back plenty of memories. My mom always turned on the news in the morning and evening.
I have been hearing quite a few wrens singing outside. It’s really bringing back the fond memories of summer days up the mountains with Nan and Pop.
Today is a much cooler day compared the the hot and humid weather we’ve been having. It certainly made working out a lot nicer than it has been.
Today has been much cooler and drier than it has been. It really reminds me of going to the mountains when I was a kid, where the evenings were much cooler than the Philly suburbs.
We went to Rita’s Water Ice last night with the granddaughters last night. That brought back memories of us walking from my Nan and Pop’s house to what was the first Rita’s when we were there in the summer.
It’s pretty windy tonight I am hearing the occasional gust outside. It’s really reminding me of going to the mountains growing up. I’d often hear the wind blowing at night during the fall and hunting season
Something reminded me of my greenhouse at Pop’s house growing up. I loved plants and he built that thing for me out of scrap wood and windows. I loved it.
I never understood what the big deal about new years is. It’s just another. The year 2020 though is one that’s always seemed so far away since an assembly in early elementary school talked about the future and used 2020.
I have many fond memories of going to walk at Neshaminy State Park. It was close by and we didn’t have a lot of money growing up so we went often when my dad go home from work. We also would fish at the marina.
It is funny how small things trigger memories. Sitting at a park yesterday, hearing the distant traffic on 283 reminded me of hearing the traffic on i-80 up at 8 bees.
At this point of the year it would have been getting close to my dad’s birthday. That got me thinking and remembering how we’d get mostly Luca pizza every Thursday. That was his payday.
When we were growing up we were never fat like so many kids today. My dad worked and my mm didn’t drive until middle school so we walked anywhere we had to go. I guess we rode bikes a lot too.
I remember climbing trees as a kid. There was no tree that we didn’t attempt to climb.
I’m siting here reading something and hearing kids outside playing. It’s nice to hear them outside enjoying themselves and having fun moving instead of planted in front of a screen.
Something reminded me of one time when we discovered how cool a magnet manipulated the old CRT screens when we still had them. As kids, we didn’t know it could cause damage, and we may have gotten in a little trouble. Luckily, the TV got degaussed after being off for a while.
