Used The Motivator In A WOD

Last night I slept pretty well. It was much needed. I have had much mind clutter lately for a million reasons and have been wanting to clear my head a bit.

Today’s WOD at least the SHIFT version, looked like a good one to break out the heavy beast kettlebell. It had sets of 14 swings and other movements that could basically be filler stuff. My main goal for this one was to use that bell.

The first two sets of swings I completed were 14 unbroken. That blew up my lungs and heart rate and really surprised me. They felt outstanding though and not heavy or difficult.

After the first two rounds, I broke the next two rounds’ two sets into seven and seven each, with a short break to catch my breath. That was the only reason I broke. It’s not like I am used to this heavy one, so I chose not to overdo it.

The Finlay round I did sets of five, four, and six. The swings felt fantastic, but also challenging. They really destroyed my legs very quickly. My lungs could not keep up all that well either, and my heart rate was through the roof. That was just what I wanted out of this WOD.

The shift version that I did was a lot less hopovers than the regular one was. That’s an added bonus. I cannot be clear enough when I say that is one of the more stupid movements that they are hung up on. For me, they do nothing. The way I did this workout, it turned into a great WOD for me. Music for today was Borknagar.
